After the agreement signed on September 4th between the Casino of Sanremo and unions, which plans to introduce slot machines in the automatic payment system known as Ez-Pay, the president of the Management Board has signed another important achievement aimed to affect the strategic production of the game.
The arrangement reached with the unions provides overcoming the problems of Article 54 of the collective work contract (which constrain the casino to open a maximum of 16 American table games) with the option to open up to 26 tables of card games: Blackjack, Baccarat, Poker and Texas Hold'em Poker.
To overcome this obstacle - card games make very little in terms of tips and these form the largest part of the croupier’s wage- the casino in an attempt to maximize the American games, attract customers- to increase competitiveness and thereby increase the production capacity- has granted a historic breakthrough: the division of tips.
As it is known, tips are always divided 50% between croupier and casino. The effect of the agreement will establish a new division of tips: casino staff will get 52% in French games starting from January 2009 until July 2010 when they will rise to 55%. Meanwhile, in American games the percentage will go from 57% to 60%.
